Web Cam Backdrop
I hate cleaning up my office in order to make webcam shots. I hate cleaning in general. I was making this elaborate back drop for my camera out of some spare curtains, a curtain rod just behind my chair…. Yikes. What an ordeal just to hide my mess. You’d think it would have been easier to just clean up. Did I mention I hate cleaning?
I found this by accident (can’t even remember how) on the internet. It’s a product by a company called “The Web Around”. You can see their website at http://www.thewebaround.com
Very simple to use. Cost was just right ($29), but shipping killed me ($11). Maybe when they get their product in stores it will be a viable option for all those of us that have dirty offices/homes.

Hi Jim,
Do you think the Webaround would be large enough for a HD / wide-screen camera?

The important thing to note on The Web Around is it’s only wide enough for a close up shot – so if you zoom the camera in for a tight enough shot, it will be large enough for your camera.
It was built specifically for webcam videos, so if you’re looking for a green screen substitute, you’ll have to pay quite a bit more for something more professional.
Hope the answers the question.

Jim,
Can you try using a portable screen used for projectors? I do not do web cam shots but maybe those who do and already have a screen for their projector can try using it.

That’s a good idea. I think if we can do anything to get rid of that messy house/office in the background, we’ll be way ahead.
Thanks for the suggestion.
