Training
Wordpress
I recorded these videos to help with the basics of using Wordpress. If you don’t get what you need here, an extraordinary training video site is WordpressTraining.com. Good luck!
.
Start Here! Watch this video if you are brand new to using WordPress, and are interested in creating your own website and web log (Blog) in just 10 minutes. If any of the elements are presented too quickly, don’t forget that you can pause the recording, and rewind. This way, you can build your own website while your watching the video.
.
The Basics of Using Wordpress
This video shows how to use a Wordpress website to manage existing pages and posts, and create new ones. With these basics capabilities, you’ll be able to maintain your own site without having to pay a web developer to fix spelling mistakes, add pages to your site, or update your blog.
.
Add a Theme to your Wordpress.org self hosted site
Add a new theme to your hosted wordpress website. A hosted account is usually hosted with a company like GoDaddy.com. You’ll know you have a hosted account if you only have a few design themes to choose from.
.
Now the Easy Way – Plugin Manager and Easy Upload
The video on adding a theme to your site demonstrated the use of an “FTP” transfer for files. If you wanted to apply that same lesson to plugins, you’d simply load the files in the folder “wp-content/plugins”. All that is old school once you’ve added Plugin Manager and Easy Upload to your site. Watch this video for an extreme shortcut! If you were lucky enough to have me set your site up for you, you probably have these plugins loaded alreay.
.
Changing Themes
Once you have some theme’s loaded on your website, here’s a quick video on how to change themes. This is similar to the training on how to “Add a Theme”, but just focuses on changing your theme once it’s already uploaded.
.
The basics of a PodCast
Upload a Podcast to wordpress – After you’ve loaded the podcast and no-revisions plugin, this video will show you how to create a post that has an audio podcast. You would have had to already create an audio file with an application like Audacity.
.
Web Based Email (hosted by Google)
If you’re lucky enough to have been referred to Google to host your email account, you will get the power of a huge company working for you. THIS IS NOT A BASIC GMAIL ACCOUNT! Google is providing their high end servers and storage system for your personal email account, and nobody but you will know that Google is behind the scenes. They provide strong Spam filtering, online storage (7 gigs!), and easy to search email.
These videos cover the various aspects of actually setting your own system up to use the Google Mail Servers, to simply using the online webmail to send and read your mail.
.
Setting Up Google Aps to host your Domain Mail Server (semi advanced)
This is not for the faint hearted, but if you are comfortable with GoDaddy, and making changes to your domain name account – and understand the concept of a Mail Server, here’s how I use Gmail as a Service Provider for my mail server requirements. It’s absolutely free, and works perfect! (note – if you don’t understand this description, don’t watch this video, it might make your head pop).
.
Using the WebMail site to send and read your email
Learn how to use Google to manage your personal email with your custom domain name to read email, send email, and manage all your mail history.

Thanks for the nice comments. I’ve noticed that with Wordpress’ latest release, the interface has really changed. I’ll have to re-record these videos to update them with the new Wordpress release.
