About
My name is Jim Carrillo and I enjoy working with people on bootstrapping their operations. Sometimes it’s helping others run their own businesses, or it could be working with a government organization. Even organizations can bootstrap as long as they are looking to create a sustainable process without external help/capital. That sounds redundant, because by definition, isn’t a consultant “external help”? Sure, but the help I’m providing them is a jump-start into the right direction that encourages the bootstrap approach.
I’m also a Professional Speaker. I’ve enjoyed presenting my philosophies and experience to audiences across the nation. My presentations range in length from one hour to three day seminars, with topics are as diverse as technical presentations, to business development. With an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, and an MBA, I’ve developed a knack at being able to relate technical obscurities to practical life examples, earning me the categorization as a “Geek Whisperer”. I’m on a mission to make technology meaningful to real people. With no offense to Geeks, and I am honored to have earned this designation, I can admit that the average Geek can get a little too excited with all the funny words. Geeks tend to focus on the computer – not on the person. I’ve practiced long and hard to be able to learn Geek as a second language. I can help your organization, business, or staff, translate the esoteric into something meaningful.
In addition to group presentations, I work with companies to provide training on company specific applications. Whether it’s an Accounting Package or Warehouse Management Software, customized training allows the people in the organization to understand how interacting with the computer relates to the bottom line – success for the business and success for the employee.
Most people think in order to make sense of technology, you need an Engineering Degree. I’m confident in my way of explaining even the geekiest of topics, and I guarantee you can learn to speak Geek too without the commitment of a four year degree. Give me an afternoon, and you too can be earn your Certification in Geek.
I paid $10,000 for my first company website, and it was so complicated, I didn’t update it for five years. I’ve made a commitment to finding a way to break the shackles of the Internet; we don’t have to be held hostage by our website anymore. I committed myself to learning how to speak Geek, and found that it’s not as hard as it seems. With today’s new technology, I can show you how to create websites for literally no cost and no technical knowledge. I’ll show you how to create online social networks for the most basic events, including something as simple as a family reunion. The internet is an extension of our lives, everyone should be represented – and I want to show you how you can be too.
Every day I’m focused on bootstrapping my business and applying the technology that I’ve learned to create a self sustaining operation. Hopefully the things I learn can help you in your Entrepreneurial endeavors, or simply easing your frustration with technology.
